Spontaneous shoot at a Starbucks! Super fun. :)

Spent a good 5 days in Bali a short while back, and it was great to have been able to finally kick back, relax, and not think about work (as much as I normally do). Adding another set of photos to my growing backlog, but hopefully I get to these a little sooner!
Anyway, just wanted to share one of my favorite photos from the trip—not exactly screaming “BALI!”, as it was shot in a Starbucks, but it just embodied some of the moments in my life that I enjoy the most.
This was actually a spontaneous photo shoot of sorts, as we decided to do it right then and there. If these two look familiar, they’re the first couple I ever had an engagement shoot for, Troy & Jessica. They’re my Starbucks couple, and the Balinese store design was too pretty to pass up! Elevated floor with just cushions for seats? Yes please!
The spontaneity of the shoot was a refreshing change from work, and I missed the thrill of finding new places to shoot at. It was a good thing that the baristas were very friendly, and had no qualms at all about us taking photos like this in the store (unlike here in Manila, unfortunately). If only I could take more photos of lovely people (willing models!) at coffee shops, I’d be a happy camper!

Finally, posting this on time!
1 Attended Justin & Gilainne’s wedding, and I was once again adopted by the Gosingtian family for the day. It was a beautiful ceremony!
2 Monday, my teaching assistant Kat & I coincidentally brought our Instax Minis to school!!! Her Instax Mini 8 is pretty awesome, it has a sensor that tells you which light mode to use!
3 I spent an afternoon with Kiks working on a Gundam model kit we’ve had since forever, but never found the time to work on.
4 After hours of painting, panel lining, putting together parts, and watching an Evangelion movie on my laptop, my Gundam Arios is complete! SO PRETTY
5 While Kat’s blue Instax Mini 8 is pretty awesome, I decided to prettify my 7S with the strawberry decals it came with. MINE IS PRETTIER NOW
6 Spent the evening with Kiks, Kim, and RG at Eastwood! We weren’t able to buy tickets to see Iron Man 3, because the theaters were packed! We settled on dinner and coffee after. I was lucky enough to get a Customer Voice receipt, yay!
7 Lunch at Krazy Garlic in Greenbelt with my siblings, two of my cousins, Kiks, and my uncle Edward who was visiting from San Francisco!
8 Today, while the aunties and uncles went to watch Iron Man, my cousin JC and I decided to catch Iron Man as well in Eastwood! Cousin date!
9 Obligatory Instax photo with my uncle! I gave it to him, because I am his favorite niece MWAHAHAHA

I nearly forgot about last week’s Instagram diary!
1 Iced Classic Chocolate with my cousins Kooky on Easter Sunday to beat the heat!
2 TORN BETWEEN TWO ICE CREAMS! Starbucks Java Chip Frappuccino ice cream vs. Ben & Jerry’s Karamel Sutra. Starbucks won this time, but Ben & Jerry’s is my sure pick next time!
3 I made pancakes for breakfast the next day!
4 Work + dinner + dessert date with Tricia!
5 Redyed my hair! Finally back to being my redhead self again.
6 Visited my nephew Tripp! Such a cutie pie!
7 Accompanied Tristan to Ateneo for his soccer training. :)
8 Cibo dinner with Kiks. <3
9 Starbucks lunch with Karl prior to a meeting!

Last week was pretty busy, and the next couple of weeks seem to promise to be just as, if not busier!
1 O HAI BEBE <3 Picture of a baby Kiks in my planner to make me smile despite my whirlwind of a schedule.
2 I overheard some of my aunts talking about how our generation will be sorry that we live in a digital age and won’t have photo albums to look back on. So I made a reminder to make use of my digital skillz and make photo books in the future. :)
3 My black rubber foam that has been gathering dust and cobwebs has been repurposed into an excellent photo background for product shots! Don’t know why I didn’t think of this sooner. Prepping to shoot a bottle of ice cold beer!
4 I got my wish to work early morning in a coffee shop with Kiks! Our morning meeting in BGC got moved to 1 PM, so we decided to make the most of our morning and get stuff done. Procrastination, who are you again?
5 I don’t remember the last time I went for a redye. Like at a salon. Put the Azta GC Tricia gave me to use before it expired.
6 While cleaning up my folders, I stumbled upon some of my digitized college notes! How I miss college.
7 And speaking of college, good morning Ateneo! Had a teaching demo last Thursday! Went a lot better than I was dreading, haha.
8 And speaking of Ateneo, hello friends! <3 Dinner + Moonleaf with my very lovely friends — Andrew, Kim, Kiks, Teptep, Tricia & RG <3
9 And speaking of friends, LINE Play is so much fun! I can’t invite any more people, boohoo, and my invitation code is about to expire, too! Sad. Earning gems is so hard!

Instagram Diary again!
1 Rainy Sunday last week! Went out with my mom and her sisters to watch Life of Pi. :)
2 Tender Blender did a shoot with some cakes! My favorite kinds of food to photograph will always be desserts. So photogenic, even after you’ve partly demolished them!
3 First time ever to go to the gym with Kiks! Borrowed some clothes from Iyay, LOL.
4 Went to Ateneo with Kiks, Misha, Karl, and Happy! Had fun hanging out with the metal animals at Dela Costa. :D Thanks Misha for the picture! :)
5 Caffé Bene afternoon work date with Tricia! THOSE WAFFLES WERE HEAVEN.
6 Our work date was followed by dinner at Ramen Bar with Kiks, Kim, and Andrew! Decided I’d put the GC I won to good use. :D
7 Early morning call-time for a shoot calls for coffee! Some of the best coffee I have ever had, to be honest!
8 After being awake for 12 hours straight, I went to have dinner with my high school loves, Bei & Liz! It was so good catching up with those two. :)
9 Friday night was the send off gig for Misha & Russ! So many awesome bands! I felt like I was in high school again, what the gig atmosphere, and Ateneo band friends I’ve had for almost a decade!

It’s back to school for me tomorrow morning, teaching another InDesign class! Being the perpetual 17 year old that I am, I decided to plant myself in a coffee shop to work (read: cram) on stuff for my class.
I had initially planned to just breeze through my stuff for tomorrow, and just edit pictures all afternoon, but fixing the lesson plan and “practicing” my spiel for tomorrow proved to be more time-consuming than I had expected. So my pictures will have to wait! I think my pen tablet cried a little in my laptop bag, since I brought it along but never whipped it out.
I’m a little excited to teach InDesign again, partly because it keeps my brain juice swirling around in my head. I’m a little curious as to what my students are like this term. I’m hoping I get a nice, happy batch of well-behaved college kids, but I don’t know if that’s a tall order.

Coffee, company, conversations, & cameras

Another evening with a favorite combination for a great nightcap.

I always enjoy spending the evening at CBTL in Katipunan. It’s so laid back, the music is at a relaxing volume, you hardly notice the chatter, it isn’t crowded, and you could spend hours there and never notice how quickly time flies.

First time to try my favorite evening CBTL drink over ice, and it’s just as good as it is hot. African Sunrise, I love you!

Upon entering, my attention was caught immediately by the cello sitting in the middle of the store next to these two boys. It was interesting to see something you don’t come across often at a place you’re usually at.

I was in the company of Kiks & Teptep, just like old times. (: Endless conversations were had, and it was nice just sitting there and forgetting about everything else for a while.

A tiny fraction of our conversations was thinking of a brand or product we liked, if we were given the opportunity to become the face of said brand/product. One of the brands that popped into my head was Doc Martens, hahaha. I wouldn’t say no to being sponsored by Dr. Martens, fosho! It’s also a given that I had thought of Canon, but that remains to be a dream, LOL.

Speaking of cameras, I think I may have to get a new lens real soon. My old kit lens (from my 400D) has been failing me on several occasions, to the point that it’s not funny anymore. I’m thinking of getting a macro next since I shoot food professionally, but that would mean no more wide focal lengths for me! Not cool, either. But then again, I’m still paying off my 2-month-old camera body, so that new lens — whatever it may be — is still pretty far off. Anybody willing to donate lenses? A nice macro, or perhaps that new Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 L II? HAHA YEAH RIGHT.

Anyhow, it’s been a lovely evening. You can never go wrong with the combination of coffee, cameras, and conversations with wonderful company.
